What is a cobot?
A cobot (collaborative robot) is a robot arm designed to work safely alongside people. FAIRINO cobots have built-in collision detection and can be taught by hand, so they suit smaller manufacturers who want automation without a large, fenced-off robot cell.
How much does a FAIRINO cobot cost compared with other brands?
FAIRINO cobots cost roughly a quarter of the price of traditional European brands such as Universal Robots, KUKA and ABB. The total cost of a project also depends on the gripper or welding equipment, the cell and any safety measures, so we give you a fixed quote after looking at your application.
Which FAIRINO cobot do I need?
It depends on the weight you need to move and how far the arm must reach. The range runs from the FR3 (3 kg payload) for precise, light work up to the FR30 (30 kg payload) for heavy loads, with the FR20 offering the longest reach at 1.85 m. We recommend the right model as part of the design.
Do cobots need safety guarding?
Cobots are built to work near people, but whether guarding is needed depends on the whole application, including the tool, the parts and the speed. We assess every installation and recommend the right safety measures so your cell is safe and compliant.
Can my own team program the cobot?
Yes. FAIRINO cobots can be taught by guiding the arm by hand or set up on a touchscreen, without writing code. Every installation includes training, and FAIRINO's software comes licence-free with free updates.
Is there funding available for cobots in Yorkshire?
Small and medium-sized manufacturers in Yorkshire and the Humber may be able to get advice and match-funded grants for automation through the Made Smarter programme. Funding rounds change, so ask us and we'll point you in the right direction.
